The much anticipated Third Edition Holy Spirit Custom Blend Candle in our Sacred Series is here!

For any of us with rural Midwestern roots, we know that farming is an act of faith. Soil, seed, and showers have always been at God’s mercy, and the farmer’s blessing is a blessing for the rest of us.
Considering this stewardship of the land, we look to St. Isidore, patron saint of farmers, for his whole-hearted trust in God, his enthusiasm for doing his work, and his devotion to the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. A farm boy born outside the city of Madrid, Spain, around 1110, St. Isidore and his wife St. Maria de la Cabeza worked the fields of a wealthy landowner their whole lives. They were known for their piety, generosity and particularly for St. Isidore’s miraculous food to the poor and great concern for the proper treatment of animals.


We here at Holy Spirit have our own holy Isadore to thank for our sacred ground. Isadore J. Brulez lived his whole life in Johnson County and farmed the family field at 11300 W. 103rd Street, which became the address of our school & parish after his gracious donation. Although he never married, he was surrounded by a large family of loving cousins and devoted himself to humbly caring for and serving the parish, its organizations, it parishioners, its students and the physical property of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. He loved the Lord, his fellow man, the land, and all that the Lord provided. You might offer a prayer of thanksgiving for him the next time you’re on Izzy’s field or gathering in St. Isidore’s room.
Seeds are still being spiritually sown in his family's field. In homage to the fruits of this labor, we present No. 3 in our Sacred Series of hand-poured candles.
